Haglund's Deformity
Haglund's Deformity - Coquitlam ShoesHaglund's Deformity
Haglund's Deformity is pain and discomfort on the posterior (back) aspect of the foot's heel at the area of the insertion of the Achilles tendon. Those with Haglund's Deformity are often females who wears high-heeled shoes. In mild foot cases, this inflammation and projection of bone at the back of the heel can be relieved with ice, compression, proper Shoes, achilles heel pads, and orthotics. In many cases where foot bones have become enlarged, surgical treatment is required.
Immobilization with a cast boot for acute symptoms has been proven an effective measure, along with oral anti-inflammatory medications. Surgery, although successful, has a long post-operative recovery period, and needs cast immobilization as well.
Take care of your feet to avoid Haglund's Deformity, by wearing Shoes focused on your feet's comfort.
